Baptism is the beginning of our life in the Church and the beginning of our
relationship with Christ. Through Baptism we are freed from our sins and give the gift of
sanctifying grace.
Baptism of Infants
Children below the age of seven can be baptized at the request of their parents. Parents
should present a child for baptism in the first few weeks after the child's birth.
A child to be baptized may have one or two godparents. If there are two godparents,
one must be male and one must be female. At least one of the godparents must be an adult,
baptized, confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing. Parents cannot be godparents for
their children, though other family members may be godparents.
A baptism class for first time parents and godparents is conducted on the fourth Wednesday of
each odd numbered month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the Church.
Baptisms are celebrated by one of the parish priests on the second and fourth Sundays of the
month after the 12:00 pm Mass. Baptisms are celebrated by one of the parish deacons on the
Saturday following the second Sunday after the 4:30 pm Mass.
Pleae call the rectory in advance to submit your information for baptism, to register for the
baptism class, and to schedule your baptism.

the Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults and Rite of Christian
