“Grant me, O Lord my God,

      A mind to know You,

      A heart to seek You,

      Wisdom to find You,

      Conduct pleasing to You,

Faithful perseverance in waiting for You,

And a hope of finally embracing You.”

St. Thomas Aquinas

The CCD Program (also referred to as Faith Formation) has as its primary function the teaching of religion to those Catholic children (grades 1 through 8) of the Parish not enrolled in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School. Religion classes are held each Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, from September to May.Our expectation is that all CCD families will attend regular Sunday Mass and commit to holding Wednesday class time in reserve over all other extracurricular activities.

Parents of home-schooled children are asked to remain in dialog with the Pastor or DRE/CRE in regard to sacrament preparation for their child.

Children with disabilities/special needs will be integrated into the Religious Education classroom setting as much as possible. Parents will be asked to guide catechetical personnel (teachers of the faith) in adapting curricula toward the particular needs of their child. However, the level of parent participation in this situation may be tailored to meet the needs of the parent, the teacher, the child with a disability, and/or other students in the classroom.

Please contact the Religious Education Office at (309) 691-5012 ext. 211

“Parents are the most influential agents of catechesis for their children…They catechize primarily by the witness of their Christian lives and by their love for the faith…Their participation in the life of the parish- above all in the Sunday Eucharist- their willingness to evangelize and serve others and their dedication to daily prayer demonstrates the authenticity of their profession of faith.”

“…At the same time, the Church promises to help parents foster their children’s faith and assists them specifically in their role as catechists of their children, whether they assume complete responsibility themselves or look to the parish school or religious education program for help and support."
