Sacrament Preparation/RCIC
Sacramental preparation is an integral part of the religious education program. In order to receive the
preparation necessary your child must either attend the parish school or CCD program. Exceptions for
private instruction will be made according to the individual circumstances by the Religious Education
Office and the pastor.
2nd Grade students make their First Reconciliation in the middle of the school year and their First
Communion in May.
8th Grade students are confirmed during this school year. The program of preparation for confirmation
begins in 7th grade.
Students must demonstrate that they are ready to receive these sacraments by their attitude, by oral
and written tests, and by completing homework assignments. The pastor or Religious Education Office
will meet with the parents of any student who does not meet these requirements.
Parental involvement is essential for children preparing to receive these sacraments. Parents are
required to attend parent meetings. Parents are responsible for insuring that their children regularly
attend classes and also attend Mass each Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation.
